- Composer vs Interpreter
All programmes are based on extensive research into autograph manuscripts
and original source materials due to errors contained in edited publications.
Programme
1
From the complete works of Chopin several popular recital programmes are
available, all of which feature a widely contrasted selection of compositions.
Programmes include well-known and lesser-known works, many of which contain
rarely heard original variants.
Selections
from Chopin’s 212 solo piano works include; Ballades, Scherzos, Sonatas,
Mazurkas, Études, Barcarolle, Berceuse, Fantaisie, Nocturnes, Impromptus,
Valses, Preludes, Polonaises, posthumous and lesser known compositions.
Programme
2
As a popular alternative to the recital programme a pre-concert talk (10
to 15 minutes), precedes the concert programme. Varied selections of works
are illustrated with comparative interpretations showing some of the wide
disparities between Chopin's autograph/original manuscripts and edited
publications.
Programme
3
Lecture recitals include several complete performances and feature contrasted
selections of compositions with numerous illustrated examples of stylistic
approaches and comparative interpretations.
Questions from the audience are welcomed and copies of
Chopin’s original manuscripts are made available. Lectures are not read
from a written text. Lecture-recitals are also given on specific genres.
Angela Lear’s lecture-recitals are popular with audiences ranging from
music societies and university music departments to professional music
organisations.
Sample
programmes and CD’s from Angela Lear’s acclaimed Chopin series are available
